Ceratosaurus was a dinosaur that appeared in the documentary film The Animal World, and the film One Million Years BC. Ceratosaurus ("horned lizard") is a genus of dinosaur from the Late Jurassic Morrison Formation of North America. It is characterized by huge jaws with enormous, bladelike teeth, a large, bladelike horn on the snout, and a pair horn lets over the eyes. The forelimbs were strongly built but very short. It lived next to dinosaurs such as Allosaurus, Torvosaurus, Brontosaurus, Diplodocus, and Stegosaurus. Some propose it was a rival to Allosaurus. Ceratosaurus fossil remains in North American Museum of Ancient Life. It was around 4.5–6 m in size, weighing 500 kg up to 1 tonne. The African C. ingens may have been much better, with size estimates ranging up to 5 tonnes, which if right would make it one of the largest of the Theropoda.

Ceratosaurus was first discovered by Othniel Charles Marsh. Relatives of Ceratosaurus contain Elaphrosaurus and the abelisaur Carnotaurus.

In the Film[]

The Animal World[]

A male Ceratosaurus surprise attacks the Stegosaurus, and the two begin to have an epic battle, with the Ceratosaurus winning the battle, however, after the Stegosaurus is killed, the female Ceratosaurus pounces near the male, and the two Ceratos begin to fight over the food, with both of them falling to water and accidentally killing them.

As the Volcano erupted, a Ceratosaurus was among the dinosaur escaping, but it accidentally falls into the lava, killing it.

One Million Years B.C.[]

A Ceratosaurus battles a Triceratops in the film. The battle is incredibly close, and the Ceratosaurus was fatally gored by the Triceratops in the end of the battle. However, this Dinosaur is much larger than it's real life counterpart, as the real Ceratosaurus was 6-7 feet tall and 20 feet long. This Ceratosaurus is 25 feet tall and 40 feet long Weight:9 tons.
